We made Simplica to help you get more value for your monthly premiums. You can find out what you’ll pay for care before you go, and it’s easy to find higher-quality providers. Here's how it all works:
Every time you need care, open your HealthPartners app or online account. You can search by doctor, location, type of care, symptoms and more. Your Simplica plan includes nationwide access to our largest network, covering all 50 states, more than 6,300 hospitals and more than 1 million providers.
After selecting a type of care and provider, you’ll see the total price. We’ll tell you what’s included in that price and what’s not. You can even compare prices for the same care at different providers; in general, lower prices indicate doctors and clinics with higher quality ratings. Copay prices depend on your insurance coverage, the type of care or item received, your condition or diagnosis, where the care is provided, and who provides the care.
Once you’ve picked a provider that’s right for you, make an appointment or, for urgent or emergency care, go to that location. Show your insurance card like you normally would. When you get the same care you looked up in your app or online account, you’ll pay exactly the price you saw. We’ll send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) later that breaks it all down.

The Simplica difference: How variable copays and provider ratings work

Simplica is different from regular health insurance plans because we use variable copays to put higher-quality care front and center. Most plans determine what you’ll pay based only on the care you need and whether your provider is in network. Simplica takes things a step further by varying your copay for each individual provider, based in part on the quality of health care they deliver. Our provider quality ratings are rooted in real results, like patient recovery rates, safety and how patients feel about their experience.
That means that when you see a lower copay, that doctor or clinic generally has a higher quality rating. So better care just costs less.
We built Simplica this way because we wanted to create a health insurance plan that supports you in the long run, not just in the moment. For example, at a higher-quality provider, you might get all the care you need to treat a condition in fewer visits than it would take elsewhere. It all adds up to a better experience for you, less money out of your pocket and less time out of your life.
