Starting Jan. 1, 2026, HealthPartners will no longer offer individual Medicare plans in North Dakota. The decision to stop offering these plans wasn’t made lightly or without significant consideration. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.
There are several ways you can shop and compare 2026 Medicare plans from other insurance carriers:

- If you want to navigate plan options on your own,
medicare.gov is a great resource. - If you need help understanding your choices, independent, no-cost advice is available through the state of North Dakota so you can make more informed Medicare decisions. Call the State Health Insurance Assistance Program at

If you’re currently a member
If you currently have a HealthPartners Medicare plan in North Dakota, your coverage will expire after Dec. 31, 2025. You can continue to use your insurance as usual through the end of 2025. There’s no impact to your 2025 benefits, or where or how your insurance is accepted. You’ll also get a letter in the mail in early October with more details about the end of your coverage and resources for finding 2026 coverage.
Here are some important things to keep in mind as 2026 approaches:
- Details about 2026 private Medicare plans are available starting Oct. 1, 2025. You can enroll in a plan starting Oct. 15, 2025.
- If you want to enroll in a 2026 Medicare Advantage and/or Medicare Part D plan, you have until Feb. 28, 2026, to enroll because you’re eligible for a
special enrollment period (SEP) . If you want to enroll in a 2026 Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, you have until March 4, 2026, to enroll; because your current plan is ending, you also haveguaranteed issue rights .- If you enroll in one of these plans during 2025, your plan will be effective Jan. 1, 2026.
- If you enroll in one of these plans during 2026, your plan will be effective the first of the month after you enroll.
- If you don’t enroll in a 2026 private Medicare plan by Dec. 31, 2025, your coverage will automatically go back to Original Medicare.
- If you still don’t enroll in a 2026 Medicare Advantage and/or Medicare Part D plan by Feb. 28, 2026, or a 2026 Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan by March 4, 2026, you’ll have to wait for the next annual enrollment period in fall 2026 to change from Original Medicare – unless you qualify for a different
special enrollment period (SEP) .
