Get an early start
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children in school athletics should get sports physical exams at least six weeks before the start of the season. This allows time to tackle any new health concerns and rehab lingering injuries. Many minor nagging injuries can be related to bigger alignment and health issues. A back-to-school exam is also the perfect time to check in on your child’s overall health and well-being.
Get in before August 13
Aug. 13 is the first day of practice for most fall sports. That means sports physicals need to be done by then. Bring your kids in now to ensure they can start on time.

Safety tips for active kids
Wearing protective gear like helmets, mouth guards and shin guards can prevent trips to urgent care. Make sure your kids wear protective gear during practices, too.
