Billing FAQs

We submit your services to your insurance company on your behalf. You should receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company prior to receiving a bill from us. If you are uninsured, you will receive a bill after your services have been processed. You are responsible for your bill when you receive it. If you have trouble paying your bill, payment plans and financial assistance are available.

Visit our “How to read your bill” page or contact the appropriate billing office.

If you’ve received a bill that you’ve already paid, contact the appropriate billing office.

Some insurance plans do not cover physical exams or preventive visits. Please contact your insurance company to determine if physicals and other preventive visits are covered.

In addition, if at a preventive care visit you receive non-preventive services (like care for pre-existing conditions, family health history or current symptoms), you may be billed for those services. If you have questions about your plan’s coverage, check your plan documents or contact Member Services for more help.

For additional information, please see our Preventive Care Guidelines.

HealthPartners has providers who see patients at multiple locations, as well as providers who sometimes work at locations outside of the HealthPartners network. If you receive care from a HealthPartners provider in one of these situations, a statement will come from HealthPartners Clinics.

Privacy regulations relating to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act limit the medical information we can share with you. To discuss details about a family member or friend’s bill with Patient Accounting, you must first complete and submit a Patient Authorization for Release of Protected Information (PDF).

Log into your online account or contact the hospital or clinic where you received care.

Contact the appropriate billing office for information on our payment options.
