The School of Ophthalmic Medical Technology at Regions Hospital is a 21-month day program that is one of only four programs in the United States that train at the highest certification level. The school combines highly qualified faculty with a variety of clinical facilities in the Twin Cities metropolitan area to provide a broad experience for students.
The second year of the program is a 12-month full-time externship with supervised training at eye clinics at HealthPartners Clinics, Hennepin County Medical Center, the University of Minnesota and private ophthalmology practices in the Twin Cities.
Our instructors are ophthalmic professionals, physicians and specialists in their field from the community.
A new class begins every September. The first year consists of nine months of classroom training. The second year is a 12-month full-time externship.
