Conditions we treat with outpatient rehabilitation services

Our outpatient rehabilitation treatments

We offer several different outpatient rehabilitation treatments and programs to help you on your road to recovery.

Outpatient physical therapy

Physical therapy is a treatment that uses exercise, hands-on therapy and education to strengthen your body, improve your flexibility and help your body’s function. We partner with TRIA physical therapists to provide exceptional therapy that uses the latest treatments and equipment.

  • Neuromuscular training
  • Endurance and strength training
  • Manual therapy
  • Aquatic therapy
  • Occupational medicine services

Rehabilitation psychology

After a surgery, injury or illness, your body’s function may change. And the change in your abilities can stir up a lot of emotions. We have rehabilitation psychologists available to support you during this time of transition.

Our rehabilitation psychologists can help you with depression, anxiety and other mental health concerns you’re dealing with.

Aquatic therapy

During aquatic therapy, you’ll have rehabilitation in a pool where the water will help support your body weight. This can be an effective treatment for people who have difficulty supporting their body weight as it reduces pressure on the joints.

We may recommend aquatic therapy as part of your occupational or physical therapy program.

Outpatient occupational therapy

After a work injury, surgery or illness, occupational therapy can help you regain your physical and cognitive function and performance. Our occupational therapists will work with you to help you adapt activities, regain cognitive skills, safely return to your favorite activities and address many other aspects of your care needs.

We will help you regain your independence and performance to have the ability to do meaningful activities. Your outpatient occupational therapy plan may include:

  • Exercises, manual therapy and other activities to improve function
  • Lymphedema therapy
  • Chronic pain treatment
  • Cognitive therapy
  • Upper extremity therapy
  • Driving assessment and evaluations

Speech therapy

After an injury, surgery or illness, you may need help to improve your speaking, cognitive or swallowing skills. Our speech language pathologists will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan.

Our speech therapy includes:

  • Swallowing rehabilitation
  • Voice therapy
  • Assistance with cochlear implants (aural rehabilitation)
  • Speech perception training
  • Memory and attention strategies
  • Retraining in speech, reading and writing
  • Gender-affirming voice training

Stroke and brain injury rehabilitation

A stroke or brain injury can cause long-term physical, cognitive and emotional symptoms. This can make daily activities, communication, sight and other parts of life difficult. As a leader in brain injury and stroke rehabilitation, including a comprehensive stroke center as certified by The Joint Commission, we can help you feel more like yourself again.

We’ll work with you to regain function, improve your mental health, build your confidence and strengthen your body. We also offer stroke support groups and a brain injury support group so you can connect with other people and families going through the same thing.

Spinal cord injury rehabilitation

Traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injuries affect how you function in the community. Our team of experts will work with you to understand how your spine injury is impacting your life and determine which treatments may work best for you. We use rehabilitation techniques that are proven to help with spinal cord injuries, and we’re a part of the Minnesota Regional Spinal Cord Injury Model System (SCIMS).

We perform spinal cord injury rehabilitation treatments that address physical function, pain, spasticity, bowel and bladder issues, readjustment to the community and much more. We’ll work together to help you achieve your recovery goals and be at your best performance.
