The Regions Hospital PGY-2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency program aims to train pharmacists to provide pharmaceutical care, participate as a member of the health care team, and provide education of patients, health professionals and themselves. In addition, residents will learn to perform self-monitoring and demonstrate leadership through contributions to performance improvement. Residents will be encouraged to develop an approach to the profession that can lead to life-long learning and career satisfaction. The program will provide the learning environment, instruction, mentoring, and evaluation necessary to prepare pharmacists to work independently in a psychiatric patient care setting and to sit for BCPP certification upon graduation. We are also committed to giving our residents the skills to effectively precept and mentor pharmacy students, residents, and learners from other disciplines.

Current resident
Name: Tricia Schoch
Pharmacy school: North Dakota State University
PGY1 program: Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls MN
Clinical interest areas: Psychiatric pharmacy—more niche interests to come as I gain exposure during the year. I enjoy working with elderly patients with my time doing MTM visits at senior centers. I also really enjoyed my time in the Emergency Department during my PGY-1 residency.
Why I chose Regions: I had heard nothing but good things about Regions and the people here when applying for PGY-2 residencies. It was also the closest program located near Fargo, which has been our home for the past 8 years. Also, the staffing requirements are solely with the psychiatric specialty, which is unique.
