Running Resiliency is a thorough and practical best-practice management course for the injured runner. The course emphasis is on the manipulation of load and stress management in our injured patients and integrates running biomechanical principles within the biopsychosocial framework. We recognize that runners are ecosystems, and ecosystems are positively and negatively influenced by a number of factors. Meaning, we have multiple options to help our athletes. While not all of these options are taught, we recognize that clinicians will have different skillsets and many of these skillsets will fit into the framework presented in this training.
Participants will gain confidence in performing a thorough analyses of all the factors contributing to stressors on a runner, gait analyses (with potential modifications), return to run programs, running training programs and exercise prescription for both performance and injury management. Participants will be comfortable changing an injured runner’s training program to keep them running and will gain proficiency in designing rehabilitation-focused training plans.

Patients experiencing neurological dysfunction may seek out a range of therapy services aimed at improving function and quality of life. Bowel, bladder, and pelvic health concerns are often under-addressed in this population, despite their significant impact on quality of life. A variety of behavioral and pelvic floor interventions can be applied to this patient population by both therapists with and without specialized training. This course will explore common bowel, bladder, and pelvic health impairments that patients can experience with diagnoses of stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Spinal Cord Injury, and Parkinson’s Disease. Participants will gain an understanding of pelvic floor anatomy and physiology and learn interventional strategies to address these dysfunctions. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with treatment plans, clinical techniques, and caregiver education strategies aimed at improving pelvic health and overall quality of life for individuals with neurological dysfunction.
This educational activity is pending approval by the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy for a maximum of 13 continuing education hours.
