Heather Bergeson, MD CAQ FAAP is a Sports Medicine Physician and Pediatrician at TRIA Orthopedic Center, Co-director TRIA Women’s Sports Medicine, Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Minnesota, and Team Physician for Gopher Athletics. She is past Medical Director of the TRIA Kids Pediatric Orthopedic Program, former Positive Coaching Alliance Executive Board Member, and TEDx speaker. She has a special interest in young athletes and female athletes and strives to keep her patients active and healthy throughout their lives.

Luke Bruss is a physical therapist at TRIA Orthopedics in Woodbury, MN, graduate of the College of Saint Scholastica, and the lead of TRIA’s throwing program. As the lead, he oversees the program and treats overhead athletes ranging from youth to collegiate level.

Alicia Harrison is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota with a practice focusing on shoulder and elbow surgery. She is the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program Director and is faculty for the UofM/TRIA Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship Program. She is the Orthopedic Team Physician for University of Minnesota Gopher Women’s Hockey.

Dr. Hassan is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He is an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in sports medicine for pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. He also has a particular interest in hip preservation and treats patients with a wide variety of pre-arthritic hip disorders from dysplasia to impingement.

Abby Gordon is a Sports Physical Therapist at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She primarily works with adolescents following musculoskeletal injuries, orthopedic surgery, and chronic pain or chronic illness. She was previously the Team Physical Therapist for the Seattle Storm WNBA team for eight seasons. She graduated from the University of Connecticut Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in 2014 and also from UConn with her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science in 2007.

Dr. Tamara Valovich McLeod is the Chair, Director, and a Professor of Athletic Training, Professor in the School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, and John P. Wood, D.O., Endowed Chair for Sports Medicine at A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. McLeod completed her PhD from the University of Virginia. She was the founding director of the Athletic Training Practice-Based Research Network and her research has focused on the pediatric athlete with respect to sport-related concussion. Dr. McLeod is fellow of the NATA, the National Academy of Kinesiology, and the National Academies of Practice-Athletic Training and was the recipient of the NATA Foundation Medal for Distinguished Athletic Training Research in 2023.

As a pediatrician, I enjoy working with youth and adolescent athletes and their families to help them achieve their goals and enjoy their sports for life. I have special interest in endurance sports and treating acute sport injuries.

Carl Nissen is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics. He established the sports medicine division at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in 2006. He has been and remains active in multiple clinical research topics relating to adolescent and young adult sports medicine topics with emphasis on osteochondritis disecans and injuries in overhand athletes. He graduated from Princeton University and from the UConn School of Medicine.

Emily Niu, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in pediatric sports at Childrens National Hospital in Washington, DC; and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at the George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her orthopaedics residency training at Stanford University Medical Center and her fellowship in pediatric sports surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. Her clinical and research interests include sports related injuries in children and adolescents such as ACL tears, patellofemoral instability, shoulder labrum tears and instability, and osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the knee, elbow, and ankle.

Dr. Nirav K. Pandya MD,  a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist within the UCSF Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery, is Vice-Chair of Pediatric Operations and Section Chief of the Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics.  His areas of interest include sports medicine, arthroscopy, and pediatric trauma as well as general pediatric orthopaedics. He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he was the recipient of the DeForest Willard Award. He completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego and received the Lena Sefton Clark endowed fellowship award. Dr. Pandya has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and multiple book chapters and speaks regularly at national conferences.

As a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon, I provide arthroscopic treatment of joint injuries and instabilities in children and adolescents. The primary focus of our practice is in the areas of patellofemoral instability, shoulder instability, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) and fractures in children. I co-direct the Orthopaedic Sports Center at Cincinnati Children’s and have edited two textbooks: “Patellar Instability Surgical Techniques” and “Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injuries in Young Patients.” I received the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) Patellofemoral Fellowship Award for 2013-2014. I am a member of the prestigious International Patellofemoral Study Group and serve as the lead investigator of a multi-institutional study on the management of patellar instability. Our clinical research focuses on improving techniques and outcomes for complex patellofemoral instability, knee and shoulder ligament injuries and fractures in children. Our research has been published in top peer-reviewed journals and has been presented at various national and international meetings.

Dr. Wu is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery. Dr. Wu’s clinical expertise includes hand and upper extremity disorders, trauma and fracture care, arthritis and degenerative conditions, periarticular injuries of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, sports injuries, wrist arthroscopy, tendon repair, peripheral nerve surgery, upper extremity tumors, and microsurgical reconstruction. His research interests include orthopedic innovation and minimally invasive techniques for the hand and wrist, quality and safety of upper extremity orthopedic care, improving patient outcomes, upper extremity tumors, and wrist biomechanics. He was the recipient of a research grant from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has lectured at national conferences.

Dr. Yen is an orthopedic surgeon at Boston Children’s Hospital’s Orthopedic Center Sports Medicine. He specializes in ACL injuries, adolescent and young adult hip conditions.

R. Alex Yue is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgeries at TRIA – Woodbury. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School and went on to complete his residency at University of Cincinnati Medical Center followed by a fellowship at Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. His clinic interests are total ankle replacement, ankle arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery, deformity correction, complex reconstruction, acute fractures and injuries.

Dr. Boyd is head team physician for football at the University of Minnesota, also head team physician Minnesota Wild NHL. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedics and American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine and has several published articles in peer review journals. He is a graduate of Bucknell University, Temple School of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic Residency and Fowler Sports Medicine Fellowship.

Dr. Chambers is a sports medicine fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. She is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Minnesota where she also serves as associate program director for the orthopedic surgery residency program. Dr. Chambers serves as team physician to the Minnesota Whitecaps professional womens’ hockey team and the University of Minnesota Varsity Softball Team. Her clinical interests include multiligamentous knee reconstruction, meniscal and cartilage surgeries of the knee, patellofemoral joint stabilization, as well as hip and shoulder arthroscopy.

my Hamilton is an Athletic Trainer (AT) at TRIA. She is the Manager of the TRIA Sports Medicine Program as well as the TRIA Sport Concussion Program. Amy is actively involved in professional association work on behalf of ATs. She is a past President of the Minnesota Athletic Trainers’ Association (MATA) and currently serves as Chair of the MATA Governmental Affairs Committee. She is also currently the President-Elect for the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association. Amy received her degree in Athletic Training at Minnesota State University, Mankato and her master’s degree in Sport Administration at the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to her position at TRIA Amy was a 13 year member of the Athletic Medicine staff at the University of Minnesota where she served as the athletic trainer for the Gopher Women’s Hockey, and the Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs.

I am a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of knee and shoulder disorders. My clinical interests include rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, shoulder arthritis, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, and meniscus tears. My goal as an orthopedic surgeon is to return patients back to their pre-injury levels and to doing the things that they enjoy doing most.

Anne Moore is a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician at TRIA for 15 years. She is a team physician for the MN PWHL team and Benilde-St. Margaret’s high school. Her undergraduate degree is from Marquette University, graduate degree from Arizona State, medical degree from University of Minnesota, with residency and Sports Medicine fellowship also completed in Minnesota.

I have been practicing as an orthopedic surgeon for nearly three decades and enjoy helping my patients recover from injuries and return to an active lifestyle. I enjoy being able to apply the latest in medical research and technology in an individualized approach to improve their lives. I have special interests in cartilage restoration, shoulder instability, complex knee injuries, sports medicine and hockey injuries. Outside of my practice, I like to spend time with my family, on the golf course and providing medical coverage for the Minnesota Wild and Gophers.

Owen Runion is a residency trained, board certified Sports Performance Physical Therapist working for TRIA in the Twin Cities.

Marc Tompkins is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota and TRIA Orthopedic Center. Clinical and research interests for Dr. Tompkins include the treatment of sports medicine injuries in all areas of the body although his practice focuses on complex reconstructive and joint preservation surgery in the knee and shoulder. In particular, he has expertise in patellofemoral conditions, ligament reconstruction, meniscus injuries, and cartilage problems, and his clinical research emphasizes these areas. He completed his orthopedic residency and a trauma fellowship at Brown University, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Virginia.
